It’s 2020, and Drones are more popular than ever. We have some really good drones in the budget category, and Syma X5SW Drone is one of the most popular drones in the budget category. In this comprehensive review, we will evaluate the various aspects of the Syma X5SW Drone, and we will see if it lives up to our expectations or not.

We will evaluate the Syma X5SW Drone on the following points, which will help you understand if Syma X5SW Drone is the right option for you or not.

Design & Build Quality

When it comes to budget drones, Design & Build, Quality are two areas where drone companies cut corners, and Syma X5SW Drone is no exception. However, it doesn’t mean that the drone is not good.

If we look at the design, it’s pretty familiar, and it resembles the DJI Phantom series. The overall design is decent, but the biggest problem with the design is that it’s not foldable. So, if you want to carry the drone around, it will be a pretty hard job.

If we consider the build quality, it’s decent. The drone comes with shiny plastic, and the drone feels sturdy enough to handle the minor crashes. However, we don’t think that it can handle the major crash. One good thing about the design of the Syma X5SW Drone is that it comes with rotor protection, which not only provides protection to the other folks around your drone but also provides protection to rotors as well if the drone crashes. Overall, the design and build quality of the Syma X5SW Drone is better than average drones.

Flying Experience

Syma X5SW Drone comes with its own remote controller, which you will use to control the drone. The drone is equipped with the modern 6-axis flight control system, which ensures the stability of the drone in the air.

Normally budget drones don’t come with many flight modes, but Syma X5SW Drone comes with two flight modes. The drone comes with the following flight modes.

360 degree Rolling Over – It’s more of a gimmicking feature that allows the drone to perform the 360-degree rolling over.

Headless Mode – Headless mode is a must-have feature that allows you to move the drone in any direction you want.

These are the only two flight modes you get in Syma X5SW Drone. The drone is lacking many assistive features such as one tap take off and land, which comes very handy, especially if you are a beginner. So our flying experience with Syma X5SW Drone was decent, but it was better than most drones in this price range.

We were able to get the range of around 40 meters, which is not a lot, but it’s the common range you get at this price point. We would also recommend not flying the drone around a lot of buildings and trees as the signal strength can get weaker, and you can potentially lose your drone out there as it doesn’t come with an auto-return home features. If you are willing to spend some time learning the basics, then Syma X5SW Drone is a solid option for you.

Camera Performance

Usually, Budget drones don’t come with any camera at all, but Syma X5SW Drone does come with one which you can use to take photos and videos. The drone comes with an HD camera that can take decent photos and videos.

The quality of the photos and videos won’t be as good as the ones taken from the premium drones, but it can get the job done. Also, the drone doesn’t come with any gimbal, so the video will be shaky. If you want a drone who can take capture decent footage, then Syma X5SW Drone is surely a great option. Otherwise, you can check the premium drones.

Battery Performance

Syma X5SW Drone comes with 3.7V 500 mAh Lithium battery. The battery is not very powerful, but it’s capable enough to offer you 6-7 minutes of flight time. Also, the charging time of the drone is very long, and the battery takes around 120 minutes or two hours to fully charge.

The remote control of the Syma X5SW Drone uses the 4 x AA batteries, which doesn’t come with the drone, and you will need to buy them separately.
